WHAT IS SUD?

SUD SIGNS & SYMPTOMS

Symptoms of substance use disorder may include:

 

  • Intense desire to use drugs.

 

  • Inability to control or reduce use.

 

  • Withdrawal from friends and family.

 

  • Deterioration of physical appearance and grooming habits.

 

  • Continued use despite health problems.

 

  • Failure to meet major responsibilities at work, school, or home.

 

  • Secretive behavior

 

  • Falling asleep, drowsiness, or changes in sleep patterns.

 

  • Pinpoint pupils (specific to opioid use)

 

  • Tremors, slurred speech, or impaired coordination.

 

  • Inability to remember things or pay attention.

 

  • High levels of spending or frequent need for money.

 

  • Withdrawal symptoms that occur after stopping or reducing opioid use, such as: negative mood/mood swings, nausea or vomiting, muscle aches, diarrhea, fever, insomnia
