END STIGMA

HELP END STIGMA

Take the following steps to reduce stigma:

  • Nobody should be defined by their drug use.

  • Be respectful, compassionate, and kind.

  • Inform your friends and family of the facts and dispel common misconceptions.

  • Remember that substance use disorder is a treatable medical condition, not a choice, and deserves treatment as much as any other medical condition.

  • Be conscious of your attitudes and behaviors, as stereotypes, negative stories, and images of drug users may influence them.
